Ethiopia is improving its export business through the Ethio-Djibouti railway service, which is part of the “Belt and Road Project”

It is stated that the Ethio-Djibouti railway service is playing a major role in delivering Ethiopia’s selected coffee and leather from Addis Ababa to Djibouti port.

The CGTN report recalled that before the implementation of the “Belt and Road Project” announced by China, Ethiopia used to take at least three days to deliver its exports from Addis Ababa to Djibouti.

He also indicated that the implementation of the railway service has reduced the country’s freight costs by at least one-third.

He also recalled that this railway line, which is part of the “Belt and Road Project”, was built to provide passenger and freight services.

The report also pointed out that the combined rail-sea transport service that can be sent by train to Djibouti port to send goods made in Ethiopia by sea to Asia and Europe.

It is known that the World Bank, which has recognized its significant contribution to regional economic development, has approved assistance to further develop the Addis-Djibouti corridor in 2023.

The report said that the launch of the Ethio-Djibouti train service, combined with the realization of the construction of the industrial parks and the start of work, has helped the efforts to realize prosperity in Ethiopia.
