The Ethiopian Embassy in China attended the Global Forum on Soil Health held in Yangling, Shaanxi, China on September 19 and 20.
It is noted that the forum brought together about 160 delegates from 32 countries including representatives from the Horn of African countries, international organizations, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations.
Focusing on“Soil Health and Food Security”, the forum underlined that soil health is a global concern and that further international action, cooperation, and joint response by all stakeholders and at all levels is required to revert current soil degradation processes and recover healthy soils.
In a related workshop held in Yangling on China-Horn of Africa Agricultural Cooperation on September 20, the representative of the Ethiopian Embassy conveyed a message that portrayed the Ethiopian government policies and strategies implemented in ADLI and recently further solidified by the Green Legacy initiative program and the need for international cooperation on this critical issue of global concern.
It is noted that the workshop was chaired by Mr. Xue Bing, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
Relevant authorities of Shaanxi province, resident ambassadors, and diplomats from the Horn of African countries as well as university academia participated in the workshop.
